Another Cornhole Set

FINALLY!!

These were a gift for my brother-in-law on his birthday at the end of Sept. He invited me to a cornhole tournament for a local girls softball team (his friend coaches them) and that was the perfect kick in the keister to get them finished. I spend every night for 4 nights working on them and the paint was still a little tacky on the day I gave them to him.

I picked him up at his house and presented the set and bags to him and he was blown away! We went to the tournament and they needed to use my set and the set I just finished for the tourney. We got set up and went to register, turned around and saw a couple of groups already throwing on our sets. He didn't get to have the first toss on fresh bags and a fresh surface. Oh well. We had the most original boards by far. Out of 16 sets, 8 were Ohio State themed, 1 was Cleveland Indians, 1 Ohio Univ., 1 Michigan, 1 a local H.S., and 2 plain.

We didn't win.

We made it to the semi's in one of the brackets and got knocked out in the other bracket sometime in the later rounds.

Until next time...the Corn Dogs will ride again!!

Cornhole Board Design #3

All righty kiddies, kittens and daddy-o's...Here is the other cornhole board.
This is the first time that I have done anything on this scale and with more than one color paint. Basically I sat down and started drawing lines with my Mack #0 Pinstriping brush.

The only lines that I laid down to start were the grid lines. I don't think that it's perfect, but at least it looks cool, will stand out when set up with other boards, and hopefully the pair will be a conversation starter.

Both boards were done using 1-Shot enamel sign painters paint. COLORS used: lettering White, Orange, and Peacock Blue.

And the pair together below. No too shabby.

SUGGESTION:
Try and draw a symmetrical shape.

HOW TO DO THIS:
Start out with a grid to give yourself an anchor point, then dive right in. It is a little harder than it looks. Good Luck!!

Cornhole Board Designs

Here is the latest from my mind. This is a rough for the face of my cornhole game boards.

Some of you might recognize this from a classic film. The image I am referring to is of Slim Pickens riding an A-bomb and yelling "YEA-HAW!" while coming down to earth. Obviously a twist by making it a corn cob to tie it with my cornhole set.

I plan on doing this on one board and doing some Von Dutch style pinstriping on the other.
The boards are semi-gloss black and the colors that I would do the pinup in would be a simple line drawing using Peacock Blue 1-Shot paint.
The pinstripe will be 3 colors: Peacock Blue, White and Orange. (This will look sweet!!)

That is it for now.

SUGGESTION:
Learn about the pinstriping brush.

HOW TO DO THIS:
Ask an artist you know.
